A staple in the Hackettstown community for well over a century, Centenary College continues to give back to the community as it prepares to open a Main Street office for math tutoring and counseling for veterans program.
The office will open at 1 p.m. Jan. 21 at 217 Main Street, according to a press release from the college. Centenary College President Dr. Barbara-Jayne Lewthwaite will be on hand to make remarks to the community along with other local dignitaries.
The math tutoring program at the office, called Centenary Downtown, will be managed by Professor Kathy Turrisi. The tutoring will be free for children in grades two through six and will be conducted by members of Centenary College’s Mathematics Honors Society Kappa Mu Epsilon.
One hour tutoring sessions will be held Mondays and Tuesdays at 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Appointments can be made through Turrisi by calling 908-852-1400, ext. 2321.
The Counseling for Veterans Program at Centenary Downtown is a joint venture between the Office of Veteran Services at the college and the Vet Center of Bloomfield to provide free counseling to combat-arena veterans.
This program will be in session 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays. Contact the Vet Center of Bloomfield at 973-748-0980 for more information.
