Pick-Up, Collection Times Approaching in Town

Some come at no cost, others require permit.

The Hackettstown Department of Public Works has a full slate of services for 2013, including pick-up services and collections for residents.

From the town, the following is a schedule of what the DPW will be doing for the remainder of the year.

Grass Clippings
Clippings can be collected at the town garage beginning April 13 through Oct. 11 every Wednesday between 6 and 8:30 p.m., and every Saturday from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Permits for drop off cost $0.50 for a thirty gallon container of clippings.

Brush Clippings
On May 4, June 8, September 7 and October 12 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., brush clippings can be dropped off at the Miller Street Firehouse. No shrubs, stumps or roots will be accepted and nothing over 12” in diameter is allowed.

Spring & Fall Clean-Up
Spring clean-up will not be collected curbside, according to the DPW. Residents are responsible for transporting items to the Miller Street Fire House on a variety of dates that can be found in the attached PDF. Proof of residency will be required for drop-offs.

White Goods and Freon Items
Items including stoves, washing machines, clothes dryers and hot water heaters will be picked up curbside throughout the year, the DPW said, at no charge to residents. Items that include Freon will cost residents a permit of $25.

Leaf Collection
Annual leaf collection will be available from Oct. 15 through Dec. 6 curbside this year at no charge. Collection is continuous throughout the time period.

Christmas Tree Pick Up
Christmas Tree pick up will be held December 26, 2013 through January 17, 2014. Trees must be undecorated and placed curbside during that time period.
