Confusing Hackettstown Intersection Gets New Left Arrow Signal

'Five corners' location has delayed green installed from Rt. 46 to Rt. 182.

Anyone not from the area has probably had a thing or two to say about Hackettstown’s notorious “five corners” intersection. Chances are they aren’t nice comments, either.

Even locals still have a tough time navigating the crossroads.

The intersection joins Rt. 46, Rt. 182 (Mountain Avenue), Willow Grove Street and Warren Street with a traffic light that all too often is too short for many cars to get through.

That situation has been bettered, however, even if just slightly, as the New Jersey Department of Transportation has installed a new traffic light with a left turn arrow for motorists making the turn from Rt. 46 West to Rt. 182 southbound, Hackettstown Police announced.

A delayed green arrow will be available for drivers heading in that direction, police said.

Should the DOT look at adjusting other portions of the intersection to make for less congestion?
