Erik Mitchell used a stolen credit card to purchase a Visa gift card, police said.

A 22-year-old Hackettstown man has been accused of using a stolen credit card to purchase a Visa gift card worth more than $100, police said.

Hackettstown Police received a report on March 28 of a wallet stolen from a vehicle parked in Municipal Lot No. 3, Sgt. Darren Tynan said.

An investigation determined Erik Mitchell used one of the credit cards in the wallet that same day to purchase a Visa gift card totaling $105.95 at Quick Chek, Tynan said. Mitchell then used the gift card on March 29 to purchase a number of items at Quick Chek totaling $14.37, Tynan said.
