Fake Fire Inspector Sought by Police

Suspect said to have not been representing town or county fire marshals.

Businesses in Hackettstown are being put on alert for an alleged imposter posing as a fire inspector, police said.

On Friday at 9:30 a.m., a white man went into a local business acting as a fire inspector, Sgt. Darren Tynan said. It was then determined the neither town fire marshal or county fire marshal sent a representative to the business, Tynan said.

The person is described as having a stocky build, either bald or has very short hair, wears glasses, and at the time was wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes, Tynan said.
