Riverside Rhythm and Rhyme Series Returns to Hackettstown

John Beacher opens new season Saturday.

Get ready for the fourth season of Mountain Ledge Music and Skylands Unitarian Universalist Fellowship's Riverside Rhythm and Rhyme Singer/Songwriter Series and Open Mic.

This live performance series runs monthly from September through May and showcases local and regional indie singer-songwriters in a family-friendly environment.  Each month, hosts Renee and Clark Paddock of Mountain Ledge Music welcome acoustic musicians and spoken-word artists  for an open mic an hour before the headliner takes the state.

The Riverside Rhythm & Rhyme Series's 2013-14 season opens Saturday features New Hope, Pa.-based singer-songwriter John Beacher, who has performed for packed houses all over New Hope and surrounding areas, has been featured at  the Black Potatoe Music Festival in Clinton and at Musikfest and Artsquest (where he opened for Rusted Root) in Bethlehem.

The series continues with Amanda Duncan in October, Chaz DePaolo in November, and Dave Murphy in December.  Kathy Phillips Trio, Gregg Cagno and Dave Tucker among others will perform in 2014.

“This series is truly a labor of love” says Renee Paddock, master of ceremonies for the monthly concerts.  “We have had some amazing performers through our doors, some who are surely on their way to bigger and better venues, and we have been able to enjoy and share them in an intimate and personal  setting.”

Admission to the series is a free-will donation at the door. Door opens for open-mic signups at 6:30 p.m. with those performances going from 7-8 p.m.. The featured performer starts at around 8:15 p.m. and plays until 9:30 p.m.
