Business owners can manage their Patch listings in our directory for readers to find and use.
When Hackettstown Patch launched in September 2012, we made the Directory into a spot where users can find descriptions, hours, accepted payment methods and much more for spots around town. All users can add events taking place at local spots, can rate the business on a scale of one to five stars and can add a review. But many owners of local businesses don't realize the full advantages and extra bonuses they get when they claim a listing. Owners or managers should search for their business listing and select "claim your listing" in order to make updates to the page. A form will pop up asking for your name, contact information and proof of ownership. Within a few days, someone from Patch should contact you to verify your authenticity, and …

Major hurdles of Highlands Council and redevelopment still in the way, however.
If the Highlands Council approves, Quick Chek Corporation will open a 4,500-square-foot convenience store and 12-pump gas station on the northern end of Washington Township within a year. The township’s planning board had no qualms with the family owned and operated corporation that has opened some 40 store and gas pump locations in the past decade, as it sets its sites on a two-acre parcel of land at the intersection of Rt. 46 and Hearthstone Road. Because the area lies within the Highlands Preservation zone, Quick Chek must first get a Highlands Preservation Approval–essentially seeking a waiver–to have the area developed. With that development, the corporation would need the zoning to change as well, as a fuel station is not currently …

Final hearing on a 4.1 percent increase for state's second largest utility.
The sixth and final hearing on a request for a rate increase by the state’s second largest utility company met with a mix of praise and criticism for Jersey Central Power & Light Wednesday at Freehold Township’s Town Hall. JCP&L, fresh off widespread criticism for its handling of superstorm Sandy and the nor’easter that followed, is seeking a 4.1 percent increase in the rates it charges its 1.1 million customers – many of whom were without power for up to two weeks after this winter’s storms. The Morristown-based company is seeking to recoup the $630 million it spent on repairs following Sandy. It has petitioned the state regulatory board — the Board of Public Utilities — which has held hearings throughout JCP&L’s coverage area since the …

BTW, I really think it is terrible how these hospitals that were founded decades ago as a memorial tribute to people are now dropping the word "memorial" from their names. Chilton was founded by a Pompton Plains doctor because the nearest hospitals were in Paterson and Passaic -- and it was named in honor of the doctor's son who was shot down over Europe with the US Army Air Corps.   more ›
