Woman Had Drugs in Car, Stole From Bank, Cops Say
Hackettstown woman stopped for motor vehicle violation had illegal drugs in car and warrant for defrauding bank, police report.
A motorist's broken license plate light led to her arrest by both the Hackettstown and Washington Township police departments on charges of drug possession and stealing from a bank, authorities said.
Megan Harvey, 26, of Hackettstown was stopped Saturday night by Hackettstown Police for the motor vehicle violation, Sgt. Darren Tynan said.
During an investigation, police learned Harvey was in possession of two suboxone pills, two hypodermic needles and three empty heroin wrappers, Tynan said.
When Hackettstown Police arrested her, they learned Harvey had a warrant out for her arrest in Washington Township.
On multiple occasions Harvey made fraudulent ATM deposits at the Tri-Co Bank on Rt. 46 in Washington Township, then withdrew the funds, leading to a total loss of $700 at the bank, Lt. Art Adams said.
The bank first reported the fraudulent activity on Dec. 14, 2012, and it was turned over to Detective Sgt. Christopher Bratus for investigation, Adams said.
On Feb. 28, 2013, an arrest warrant was issued for Harvey, Adams said.
Harvey was charged with third degree theft, possession of controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles, controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, maintenance of lamps and having a cracked windshield.
Bail for Harvey was set at $10,000 with a 10-percent option from Washington Township, which she posted; she also posted a $1,500 bail stemming from the Hackettstown drug possession arrest.

there is plenty of drugs in long valley and mendham too. hackettstown gets a bad rap for drugs, and i am sure they have their fair share. i work as drug counselor and we get tons of LV kids for hard drugs. LV, Mendham, and Randolph...people just don't seem to know this about these places

You're right, I didnt mean to single out Hackettstown, It is on the rise equally in Morris, Warren, Hunterdon counties. Actually the greatest rise in heroin use in appears to be in Sussex county.(http://media.nj.com/ledgerupdates_impact/photo/11666029-large.jpg) It is scary but Northern NJ is seeing a rise in opiate addiction that almost always starts with prescription narcotics. I'm not saying that I know how to fix it, but I will say that something needs to be done. According to recent studies by the national institude on drug abuse, ~25% of first time heroin users will become addicted, and 50% of addicts will die directly as a result of the drug. We need to get this poison out of our towns.

First we need to have the WMC Board of Ed to let the police department or sheriff's office bring in drug dogs. The BOE is so worried that the school will get a reputation as a drug school if drugs are found, they would just rather stick their head in the sand. I know for a fact that the police department has been turned down numerous times by the BOE.

and let us not forget in the last 10 years there have been 3 huge heroin dealers arrested in long valley during raids. For heavens sake, one was so big, the police had watched him for 2 years, staked out the house next door, and reported on everyones coming and going for years before the whole house of cards came down.

Hope this isn't the same Megan Harvey that works at the Pumpkin Patch daycare. If it is, God forbid she drops a pill that a child finds

This is NOT Megan Lewis Harvey, 29, who graduated from WMCHS in 2001 and is currently working in Houston, TX at NASA's Johnson Space Center as an ADCO Flight controller for the International Space Station. DARE worked for me! =D

This is the Megan Harvey that worked at Pumpkin Patch Daycare. She does not work there anymore because she was let go for using drugs whilst on the job. This woman has two children of her own and they need to be taken away from her before something happens to them. Both her and her boyfriend are addicts and they bring the kids along when they go out to get drugs. She is doing her best with damage control to claim that she is innocent, this is just her trying to keep whatever network of friends she has and to not lose her welfare money which is her main source of drug funds. Yes I know her, no I don't have an axe to grind, I just don't want to see her destroy herself and her children.

I have known Megan for years and years. Good people can make bad choices. I would know because I am a recovering Heroin Addict. I hope that Megan can find success in treatment, and live a clean and sober life, with her children
