Gift Cards Sought for Family Displaced by Fire

Hackettstown police collecting donations to aid residents.

The Hackettstown Police Benevolence Association #369 announced it will be collecting gift cards from area businesses to assist a family who lost their apartment in a fire Tuesday.

The Baker family of five, whose second floor apartment was gutted by a blaze Tuesday morning, is currently displaced, Sgt. Darren Tynan said. The residence was deemed uninhibatable after the fire was extinguished.

The PBA is collecting gift cards on the family's behalf. Those gift cards can be from WalMart, Target, ShopRite and other similar stores, Tynan said. The family has asked that no monetary donations or clothes be given.

All donations can be dropped off at the Hackettstown Police Department at 215 Stiger Street.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured. The family's dog and four cats were all rescued from the blaze.
