Duo Stole, Then Pawned Music Equipment, Cops Say

Two guitars and an amplifier were taken from a Main Street residence, police report.

A Budd Lake woman and Independence Township man were arrested and charged in connection with stealing and selling music equipment, Hackettstown Police Sgt. Darren Tynan said.

Police responded to a report of a residential burglary on Feb. 22 at the 100 block of Main street to find an electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and amplifier with foot pedal were all taken from the residence, Tynan said.

The value of the equipment was estimated at $960, Tynan said.

An investigation led police to find Jessica Irving, 25, had entered the home and taken the items, Tynan said. Irving then gave the items to Matthew Dughi, 24, who then sold them to the U Cash Inn store on Main Street in Hackettstown, Tynan said.

Irving was charged with burglary and theft and lodged in Warren County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail.
