New Year Brings Reorganization to Town Council
Conforti, Sheldon sworn in to three-year terms on governing body.
Hackettstown wasted no time in constructing its governing body for 2013, as the mayor and council held its reorganization meeting Tuesday at Hackettstown High School.
The quick-moving gathering began with the swearing in of councilmen William Conforti and Scott Sheldon. Both won re-election to their seats in November, and now hold new three-year terms set to expire Dec. 31, 2015.
As nominated by Councilman Eric Tynan, the governing body approved the appointment of Jerry DiMaio Jr. as Hackettstown’s Deputy Mayor, and Sheldon as the alternate.
Four fire department officers were also sworn into position, each carrying a one-year term.
Charles Tillou was sworn in as Chief; James Taylor, Jr. sworn in as Deputy Fire Chief; David Elston as 1st Assistant Fire Chief; and Joseph King as 2nd Assistant Fire Chief.
Mayor Maria DiGiovanni concluded the annual New Year’s Day meeting by thanking all of the town’s employees, as well as the volunteers.
“I’d like to thank everyone in town who works so hard, especially the volunteers,” DiGiovanni said. “You help this town when you really don’t have to, and I appreciate the dedication you have to this town.”
Hackettstown Mayor and Council will hold its first regular meeting of the year Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the municipal building.
